About Serena and Adam
Food lovers, corporate dropouts, trauma survivors, and parents dealing with allergies. We are everyday people on a journey to become better cooks and better humans.
Our blog is inspired by our family’s history of allergies as well as our mental health journey. So our mission is two-fold:
We want to help those with multiple allergies find delicious recipes that anyone can enjoy. Finding one-size-fits-all meals for large groups, families, and shared dining is tough. That’s why we’re here to help you set up your pantry and do the thinking for you.
We’ll never forget the day our toddler went to the emergency room with a swollen face. He was struggling to breathe after he consumed gluten. We took our son to the allergist as a result and learned we would have many allergies to factor into our daily cooking. Not only do his meals need to be gluten-free, but they also needed to be egg-free, grain-free, lentil-free and even garlic-free! Yes, you heard us! GARLIC-FREE. The allergies don’t stop there. On top of that, Adam is allergic to nuts and sesame, while Serena is allergic to grains. Allergies have been a part of our whole lives. So what’s a better teacher than experience when it comes to generating recipes sensitive to these issues? Adam has been on his cooking journey for over the past ten years and Serena has been on hers for six years.
Providing recipes that help elevate your routine and alleviate daily life struggles is our goal. We understand depression, anxiety, stress, C-PTSD, abuse and even going no contact with loved ones. Serena has been on her mental health journey for about a decade while Adam has started his for the past two years. We’ve seen therapists over those years and have researched psychology related issues extensively. It’s the hardest thing to do and sometimes the most necessary. You are not alone. Life is anything but perfect so as we share our cooking/life journey, we want to share the imperfections too. Let us bring joy and laughter to your plate by offering recipes to compliment a lifestyle of healing and self-discovery.
